Emily Thomas (Supervisor)

Hello, my name is Emily Thomas, LMSW. I provide clinical supervision to limited licensed social workers as well as providing supervision to therapy interns. I love providing this service to newer social workers. I love to see the growth and knowledge that they gain over time. Social workers provide such an important role to our community and social workers enter the field with so much passion for helping others. I love to help to harness that passion and improve clinical skills so that everyone can reach their goals. Becoming a fully licensed social worker is a wonderful journey! I am happy to be a part of this so that we can bring confident and informed social workers into the field as well as bringing quality client care and outcomes.

I graduated from Wayne State University in 2012. I have worked in a variety of areas of social work including outpatient therapy, partial hospitalization, inpatient mental health, hospital emergency room, managed care organization, doctors offices, Medicaid/Medicare dual eligible programs, physician organizations, and insurance companies. I have done many years of work in the clinical setting as a therapist, as a clinical director, practice owner, behavioral health care manager, as well as in audit reviews, management and supervision. I have enjoyed my varied career and I feel like social work is a field with endless learning potential.

I live in a rural town outside of East Lansing with my husband and three children as well as a variety of animals. We run a dog training business and enjoy spending time together. We are involved in sports activities and we are always on the move!

I love this field and the endless potential. The social work field is continuing to grow and I am honored to be a part of guiding new passionate people into learning as much as they can and helping people reach their full potential.
