Christine King

I am Dr. Christine King (she/her). I earned my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at The Michigan School of Psychology. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy. I am open-minded, empathetic, and nurturing. I provide a safe, judgment-free space for my clients and help clients become comfortable with the process of therapy. I currently provide only teletherapy services.

I have worked with clients with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, ADHD/ADD, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, grief, chronic pain, trauma, parenting difficulties, divorce and other relationship problems, poor body image, life transition and other adjustment difficulties. I have noted that many of my clients also experience physical health concerns, and I am interested in learning more about the mind-body connection.

As a psychologist, I guide my clients in exploring their emotions, thought patterns, and behaviors with the goal of improved self-awareness and insight, healthier coping skills, improved daily functioning, and peace of mind. The foundation of my approach is humanistic, evidence-based, and collaborative and may include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, a psychodynamic perspective, and consideration of existential concerns. I incorporate teaching techniques based on positive reinforcement, mindfulness, and self-compassion. For clients who benefit from and want “homework”, I have various worksheets, writing prompts, art activities, etc. that I can offer which support their therapeutic progress between sessions.

A personal glimpse: I have two sons, both young adults, and a bonus young adult child. My younger son has ASD. My advocacy for him ultimately inspired me to return to school for my psychology degrees and has contributed to my ability to relate to neurodiverse clients as well as to parents and clients who face various stressors and challenges. I am environmentally conscious and enjoy nature, gardening, reading, my two cats, Kimmie and Daisy, and my turtle, Lucky.

A favorite quote: We are all just walking each other home. ~ Ram Dass
