Having a safe space to talk about issues that may be weighing on your mind and emotions is a healthy way of relieving stress and experiencing a more positive outlook on life. Sometimes finding someone that is non-judgmental and empathetic can be difficult, especially when you feel that your problems are too overwhelming to discuss with friends and family. Maybe someone close to you is concerned about how your thoughts and actions are starting to affect your well-being.
My professional background includes 27 years of previous experience as an Emergency Dispatcher for a large city. While working full-time and raising a family, I completed my Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Madonna University in 2016 along with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University in 2019. I have worked as a Masters Level Psychologist in a state prison for the last 7 years. I earned a Bachelors of Criminal Justice Degree from Wayne State University and an Associates Degree in General Studies from Macomb Community College when I was in my early 20’s.
As a therapist and a background as a first responder, I have helped many people through stressful incidents and crises. I have experience guiding others who are battling anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behaviors, and trauma. My therapeutic approach consists of a person-centered, psychodynamic process, including motivational interviewing. The therapeutic intervention involves the client collaborating with the therapist to inspire positive changes to thoughts and behaviors that may be distressing to the client.
