Hello, my name is Rebecca Nieubuurt, LLMSW. I am passionate about finding balance, even in the most difficult of times. We can often feel overwhelmed, especially as we manage the many aspects of our lives. At times, we can lose sight of ourselves and happiness can feel elusive. Therapy is a specialized tool to calibrate the scales of life. My aim with clients is to fine tune the skills we all already possess to access happiness, confidence and achieve personal goals.
Understanding that humans live within complex systems that include socio-economic conditions, current and past family dynamics, work and social interactions, as well as biological and genetic predispositions to mental illness, my therapeutic approach must be as diverse as the human experience. As a generalist, specializing in older adults, I incorporate a number of approaches which consider the whole person and the role of therapy in improving outcomes for clients. At the core, my approach is humanistic, person-centered, and strengths-based. In my work with client’s I utilize motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, reality testing, narrative therapy and mindfulness to help clients identify goals in therapy.
