I believe that the foundation of any type of counseling should be a healthy therapeutic relationship between both counselor and client. I look to help individuals learn more about themselves by helping them get more of an understanding of why they feel what they feel. Working with an individual to establish what and why when solving a particular problem should always be a collaborative effort. I look to empower the individual by helping them realize that they do have the tools to be able to handle what life throws at them. We may not be able to control the world around us but we are in control of our own decisions and how we react to things.
I help individuals that struggle with issues such as: Substance use disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Panic disorders as well as Anger management.
Addiction is a disease that is characterized by an abnormal pattern of behavior. Individuals dealing with addiction tend to have destructive negative thinking that eventually bring on things like depression and anxiety. Addiction not only plagues the individual that is addicted but also effects the loved ones and friends around that person as well. By using Cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, I look to help the individual explore the reasons behind why they use, and help them identify self-defeating thoughts which may often fuel the addiction.
