Matthew McCormick

Hello! I am a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of experience, working primarily with adolescents and adults with adjustment problems, grief work, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and other psychological problems in individual therapy.

I know choosing a therapist can feel very difficult and overwhelming, so I feel creating a supportive, judgment-free environment is key in developing a positive therapeutic relationship. I have experience with multiple therapeutic techniques, including the cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic perspectives. I believe therapy works best when we can work collaboratively to tailor the treatment to best fit your needs.

In addition to general practice, I also have experience in providing services to LGBTQIA+ teens and adults. I have worked in the inpatient setting, so I am familiar with more severe psychological problems, including trauma. I have also worked in the hospital setting with crime victims with symptoms of acute stress and PTSD.

I completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2006, after which I continued my studies there and completed studies for a PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2013.
