Jake Pradko

We all walk a distinct path in life, trying to pursue what matters most to us, and hoping to discover who we are. Sometimes we become stuck on that path. I believe that my role as counselor is to be a supportive presence for my clients on their journey to become more authentically themselves. This path requires hard work from each client. My ongoing process is to foster the most fruitful and safe environment for my clients to connect and progress.

My practice is grounded in a person-centered approach, integrating theoretical perspectives that prioritize the individual needs and values of my clients. The principles of Humanist, Social Justice, and Feminist theories are core to my values as a counselor. I advocate for my clients on a holistic level, utilizing resources for support, and working with their other care providers.

I will earn my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University in the summer of 2023. In my training process, I gained experience at the SEHS Counseling Center, working with adults facing a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, career concerns, loss, managing chronic conditions and disorders, such as ADHD, and adjusting to life changes.
