MA, LLP, Director of Child Therapy

Adam Walker

Adam Walker

When children and teenagers act out, withdraw, or fail to meet expectations, there is always a reason. Although we adults may not immediately understand or appreciate their motives, it is my experience and belief that these behaviors are communications. The goal is to understand these communications. With new understanding, parents and their children can begin to move forward with empowered perspectives, utilizing practical strategies for growth and improvement.

I work with toddlers as young as 3, and teenagers as old as 19. I specialize in working on issues like anxiety, defiance, social-emotional awareness and regulation, verbal and physical aggression, ADHD, academic struggles, and oppositional behaviors. I also have special interest in, and over 20 years of experience working with children on the autism spectrum.

In addition to working as a therapist for Sollars and Associates, I am also the Classroom Clinician at Walnut Lake Preschool and Developmental Kindergarten. WLP focuses on the needs of children whose emotional, behavioral and developmental challenges are interfering with success. I nurture the group experiences and social development of students by strengthening the individual child’s emotional resources, social capacities, and cognitive development.
